Alyson Camus wasn’t thrilled by Arcade Fire when she saw them earlier this year but she was a bigger fan than I ever was, and I also don’t believe she loved Reflektor as much as I did. My only problem with the album was it didn’t sell enough copies, and sales effects my opinion of pop music, but as albums go? It is a masterful and lush disco variant. And I can’t wait to see it live at Barclay Center on Saturday.
Tuesday – Drake Vs Lil Wayne – Forest Hills Stadium – Put your money on Drake, he won in Chicago!
Tuesday – Harper Simon – Rough Trade -Paul’s boy, making a name for himself.
Wednesday – Robyn + Röyksopp – JBL Live at Pier 97 Tickets – Loved the album though last time I saw Robyn (at Radio City Music Hall) she was very lax.
Wednesday – Rod Stewart And Santana – Jones Beach – Last time I saw Rod he finally wasn’t up to it, but it could’ve been an off day. It is easier for guitarists so Carlos should be OK.
Thursday – Jimmy Buffett – Jones Beach – Back to Margaritaville
Friday – Off! – Europa – Ah yes, punk rock!
Friday – Beres Hammond – Best Buy – With Buju Banton in jail, this is the last man standing.
Saturday – Lyle Lovett and His Large Band – The one time I saw him live he bored me silly but who knows?
Saturday – The Strypes – MHOW – Pub rock from Ireland, the rock band for folks who wanna live in 1972… like me in this case.
Saturday – Chaka Khan – Hammerstein Ballroom – Soulful and funky superstar still doing it.
Sunday – La Mega 7th Annual Tropical Fest with Alex Sensation – City Parks Foundations “Summerstage” – Alex is nyc’s top Latin DJ and free so zero excuse for missing this.
