
1. Shimmy Shimmy Ya – Ol’ Dirty Bastard – this has the addictive kick of the Sugarhill Gang, and which nobody would claim ODB was Wu Tang’s greatest rapper, nobody came close to his mix of aggression and self-deprecation, and let this be exhibit A – Grade: A
2. Full Grown Boy – Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers – This is why people overestimate the new album,
because songs like this are hidden away – C+
3. Just Noise – Norah Jones – Great verse, iffy middle eight, but better than the majority of the new beck – B
4. Red Rooster Blue –Ethan Johns – Best song on his last album and really he does have one of those cool country folk John Hiatt-y voices – B
5. Hot ‘Lanta – The Allman Brothers – The complete four shows, and thrilling stuff as well, this ain’t the best version you’ve heard but he may be the freshest – B+
6. Now That Your Dollars Have sprouted Wings – Jason Isbell – A little generic but Jason sings it to death and beyond, yeah I know I dissed it a coupla days ago but it grew on me – B+
7. Rock And Roll Records – Eric Clapton – This is the one with Petty joining in andit bruises with the workman vice of it all – B+
8. Time Forgot – Conor Oberst – Proof Conor is better at axioms than he is at poetry, something told me that exact same thing once says more than it actually says – –
9. Coming back to A Man – Dawes – Whenever I write that song title I think I’ve written it wrong – B+
10. Keep Watch – Wu Tang Clan – It’ll have to do until they actually release their new material to more than one person – B
