Westboro Baptist Church vs Panic! At The Disco

Apparently it takes forever for radical extremists to realize that they’re just making huge jokes out of themselves.

The Westboro Baptist Church picketed a Panic! At The Disco show, made a parody of their song “I Write Sins, Not Tragedies”, and basically just caused a ruckus. Panic!’s show in Missouri on the 20th was picketed by WBC members, and so they said that for every person picketing, they would donate $20 to the Human Rights campaign. What a way to turn something foolish into something beneficial.

However, once Panic! said this, only 13 members of the group decided to turn up. Go figure. Brendon laughed about it on twitter and said in a tweet they would donate $1,000 rather than the $20 per head they had originally pledged.

Westboro Baptist Church “claimed” a Panic! At The Disco fan tried to run one of their protestors over at the gig in Kansas City (lol), tweeting: “What is this Panic At The Disco tripe? They’ll be panic at the second coming of Christ!” Oh lord help me.

We all know that bands like Panic! and fun. have received a lot of backlash for supporting gay rights, which is ridiculous. It’s like receiving backlash for speaking up against racism or sexism. Regardless, the guys turned the controversy into a selfless way of revenge, which was pretty clever.

Brendon once said, “[Homosexuality is] not something anyone should have to hide… It’s important to know who you are, to be able to be proud of that, and have the courage behind your convictions. People can say whatever they want; it doesn’t matter unless you let it affect you.” That being said, the band didn’t let these picketers affect them, and it all ended up for the better.
