The Westboro Baptist Church has decided to cover Panic! At the Disco’s ‘I write Sins Not Tragedies’ while altering a bit the lyrics,… more than a bit actually.
How can they get away with such hatred? And how can they get away with a parody of an already existing song preaching hate and posted on Soundcloud,… no less! An actually pretty hipster thing to don But doesn’t soundcloud have some sort of feature that would allow us to report about these hateful things?
At this point, we have two choices, either ignoring the whole thing and not giving these guys more publicity they certainly don’t deserve and need, or writing about it and denouncing their hatred and insane behavior. I am not sure, but it is difficult to stay quiet when facing so much stupidity and ignorance.
And I don’t know what is worse the lyrics (‘Oh! You all say/ It’s okay to be gay/ Because practically fag marriage will stay /Well this calls for some truth/You’re all insane, fags are profane’) or the terrible awful singing? It’s so bad you are gonna want to strangle the singer after just a few lines. Why are these lunatics recording music are you gonna ask: According to their own words: ‘just in time for WBC to picket them at Crossroads in Kansas City on July 20, 2014.’
The church has probably just heard of the news that frontman Brendon Urie admitted to have experimented in other realms of homosexuality and bisexuality in 2013… or they have just decided to picket anything which is remotely close to what they consider sin, including rock ‘n’ roll, funerals of metal stars and abortion clinics. I just hope Panic! At the Disco sue the hell out of them, because of copyright infringement: they use their music, posted the track on Soundcloud without their authorization. Let’s hope they will stop there and are not going for the compilation of heinous greatest hits.
No need to advertise the abomination too much, I am not going to repost it here, you can always visit Soundcloud if you feel having a good laugh or an awful feeling. Sure it is easy to take the whole thing as a parody but I don’t like to call it a parody, because these people are not Weird Al Yankovic, they are not kidding.
