5 Seconds Of Summer – 5 Seconds Of Summer – Every teenage cliche known to girls since time memorial is nicked from 1D and presented as something fresh. Which it is. If you’re a thirteen year old girl – C+
Ashes To Ashes – Chelsea Grin – The problem with brutal metal cum hardcore is how hard can you bludgeon your audience into submission? Everybody is upping the pain quota so hand the Salt Lake City metalcore band… they have a great singer and they hit very very hard – B-
Sound Of Change – The Dirty Heads – Positive vibes from Socal, mixing dodgy rock rhythms with dodgier raps. They claim to be Sublime without the Reggae but that only remains you how unique Bradley Nowell was. This is Christian rock without the christianity – C
Redeemer Of Souls – Judas Priest – Should I like em because they are still here? well? 83 minutes of heavy metal, so be my guest – C+
Last Tangle In Paris Live 2012 – Ministry – What I like about Ministry is there is a humor deep inside their songs and their brutality is based upon strong drumming and good songs; this live album will have you joining the Ministry- B+
Tzenni – Noura Mint Seymali – The exact place where West meets west Africa, the Mauritian superstar sings with such richness and flavor, you think you can understand the language and the band travels between the two cultures with such ease you forget which culture is being represented. The title track is a great pop song.
1000 Forms Of Fear – Sia – Nothing personal but 15 years into her career, unless david Guetta is hooking up with Sia, she bores the hell out of me, and this is an indifferent to bad album of self-important modern pop – C
Moanin’ At Midnight: The Howlin’ Wolf Project – Tomas Doncker Band – If you have last year’s This Is The Tomas Doncker’s Band Howlin’ Wolf EP, what do you need this for? Four more songs. If you don’t have the EP, this breakthrough album for the band is the best collection of Wolf covers you will ever hear – ALBUM OF THE WEEK – A
