Sports: Yes, the US lost against Germany in the World Cup, but they still made the next round and considering the Germans had control of the ball an astonishing 70% of the time and only managed one goal, this is something in the nature of a miracle and the miracle has a name: Tim Howard, US Goalie. By the time you read this, they may be out but it doesn’t matter any way, Tim did well.
Live: A good week for live shows, but Elvis Costello’s 165 minute, 28 song tour de force at carnegie Hall on Wednesday June 25th, was on a whole other level of excellence. Best moment? No, I know you would think it would be the first six songs off My Aim Is true performed in order, but it was actually “Toledo”. So now you know.
Recorded: The last couple of weeks have been a little iffy and next week seems not too cool either. I’ll hand it to Bassnectar, who I like any way but also seems like a bit of a default winner; it is really good house music, all bass all power, but it is no more than that. This week that’s enough.
Local Politics: The LIRR is about to go on strike because an 18% increase over 7 years isn’t enough. The mind really does boggle, if I have to do it all over again I would join the public sector. Like the USSR proved, money that isn’t your name is money that doesn’t matter. There is so sense of people owning money together, property together. All Government’s waste money, because no government works for it. I was reading about the government who spent $5 million since 2009 in protecting a building, work on the building hasn’t started yet. It is Monopoly money, it doesn’t matter.
By the way: Yeah, I know I’m late, I couldn’t squeeze the post in.
