Toy Sugar were so ambitious they felt more prog than punk Thursday at the Willie Mae Camp of Rock, but they are so energetic, so finding their, way they are irrresistable. To paraphrase Katy Perry, hating on Toy Sugar is like stepping on a puppy.
If they had played 20 minutes they woulda been perfect, but by throwing in a credible cover of “Rebel Rebel” and by giving their own material a sincere sensation, plus a terrific cover of the Joan Jett of the 2010s, Kathleen Hanna’s, “I Wish I Was Free”, they maneuvered the fussiness of some of the arrangements.
Gprmed at the Willie Mae Camp.I love bands at this point of their lives… Toy Sugarare thisfar from getting it down.
