QOTSA going bad

Josh Homme is a hard working man, is there a moment when he and his band have stopped touring this year? I am not sure and they even have announced new dates to this never ending Queens of The Stone Age world tour. But for now they also have a new video for the track ‘Smooth Sailing’ off their last album, and there is nothing smooth in this sailing of course.

They definitively ditched the animation style of the first videos for ‘Like Clockwork…’ and in this one, you see Josh Homme with a bunch of Asian guys party till there is no end of the night,… drunken debauchery, obvious drug use, DUI, bad Karaoke, this will make you sick, sick, sick or at least very dizzy, and did the guy kill someone in the dark alley at the end? Party gone really bad.

I have always felt a drunken sensation when listening to this track, combined with a rare abandon mixed with the dangerous empowering feeling of someone who can control anything but sinks in the dark no matter what, so I guess this video translates very well the music. But why Asian businessmen? Or why not? This video looks like a sequel of the Hangover now that I think about it, may be Josh wants to place a song in The Hangover IV?

Or may be, as Matador’s Gerard Cosloy wrote at Matablog, it is ‘a cautionary tale about karaoke as a gateway to all kinds of bad stuff’ . I buy this, since I despise karaoke.
