Love that country fiddle
Love that country fiddle

1. Country Pie – The Charlie Daniels Band – Dylan has seldom written a purer country song and Daniels boogies all the way through it till we pay the fiddler during the break. A terrific version – A

2. Governor’s Ball – Conor Oberst – The gift is gone and you can tell in the too busy break. This man was a pure master as recently as “Say Please”, but the magic isn’t here anymore – B-

3. Be My Forever – Christine Perri – Chugalugga power pop which isn’t worth the wait for Ed to join in; rather unpleasant – C-

4. Georgia On My Mind – Leon Russell – Endlessly dreary take not brought to a boil by an old fashioned swing break – C-

5. Your Bright Baby Blues – Sean Watkins, Sara Watkins – The siblings have always made great music together, here they trade lines though Sara gets most of it – A

6. Cry – The Used – The problem with post-hardcore is when post-hard becomes post-hardcore it becomes lame hard rock – C-

7. America – Nick Cannon – If this is a parody of boy bands (which it kinda is) what is its POV? And if it isn’t, it is pretty lame – C

8.Coming Home – Kaiser Chiefs – We used to have a name for this stuff when I was a wee whippersnapper: Brit Pop – B

9. You Move Me – Robert Cray Band – Medium cool blues band – B-

10. Saudade – Thievery Corporation – Pretty Gilberto Gil like Spanish flavor – B-
