Terri Nunn: Ich Bin Ein Berliner!

Berlin, featuring the stunning Terri Nunn, are going back on the road decades after “Take My Breath Away” lead New Wave mainstream and opened the floodgates.  Hot on the heels of last year’s Animal, which is nothing if not rowdy dance crank stuff.

Terri has been DJing Unbound with Terri Nunn on 88.5 FM KCSN Los Angeles but late last year she took Berlin touring the West Coast and now it is the East Coast’s turn. Berlin will be playing The Cutting Room on May 3 and if the new album is anything to go by, it is a real good one, it should not be a nostalgia show that’s for sure.

I hadn’t realized this and despite units moved once being much easier to come by, look at this: “Since inception, TERRI NUNN and BERLIN have received a total of twelve gold and platinum album awards.” Impressed, right?

Animal itself is better on the fast number but even on the slower ones, it is pretty and strong New Wave updated power ballads for all. I’ve never actually seen Berlin but my gut tells me this won’t be a by the numbers type of performance, that there is an ongoing  sound worth checking out. Plus, cmon it is Terri Nunn.

According to the press release: “Joining NUNN on the road will be Carlton Bost on guitars (Orgy, Deadsy) keyboardist, Dave Schulz (Goo Goo Dolls, General Public) and long-time drummer, Chris Olivas.”

Here are the upcong dates and assume Gramercy Theater, where the “One Night With Janis Joplin” has moved to, is now the Cutting Room:

May 1              World Café Live                      Philadelphia, PA

May 2              Maryland Live Casino             Hanover, MD

May 3              The Gramercy Theatre           New York City, NY
