Week 12
Recorded: Sleeper Agent released the sleeper album of the year, a fine sophomore effort overflowing with hooks, melodies and potential hits. Followed by a surfeit of albums which can only sustain it with a song or two… though the Freddie Gibbs-Mad Libs album was a little better than that.
Live: I’m willing to admit that both Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes is less than masterful by themselves, but together they are as great a two guitar tandem as there is in the business and Gregg Allman was not missed too much at the Beacon Theatre on Friday night. Meanwhile, tickets went on sale for Rihanna and Eminem at Metlife this summer. Two nights!
Sports: Phil Jackson becomes the head of the Knicks and the Knicks continue a six game winning streak. Meanwhile, St. John fail to make it to the dance… again.
International: How does a 777 fall off the face of the earth and what does that tell us about the ability to spy on everyone all the time. It seems to me the planet suffers from information overload.
Local: The School Of Rock opens in Brooklyn!
