Coachella is approaching and it has now become a tradition, bands which stay around between the first and the second weekend, book shows in the Los Angeles-Orange County area. Lucky us! We can have our Coachella à la carte, instead of being forced to swallow the multi-course meal at once.
So between April 8th and April 18th, you can see Foster the People, the Knife, STRFKR, the Afghan Whigs, Motorhead, CHVRCHES, Broken Bells, Kate Nash, Ellie Goulding, Crosses, HAIM, Bombay Bicycle Club, A$AP Ferg, Mogwai, Blood Orange, MGMT, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Dum Dum Girls, Title Fight, Chromeo, The 1975, Grouplove, Bryan Ferry and many more at various locations like The Fonda, the El Rey, the Glass House, the Orpheum, the Roxy, the Echo, the Constellation Room, the Fox Theater…. Too bad that Greg Dulli and his band (with Mrs Josh Homme Brody Dalle) are playing in such a remote location, … Pappy & Harriet’s are you kidding me? Do these people realize how crazy it would be to drive 128 miles back and forth on a Thursday night? It would probably be awesome to see them at this tiny place, in the middle of the desert, but I’ll pass.
I don’t really expect Muse, Arcade Fire or even Outkast to schedule one of these intimate parties, so far none of the big headliners is in the list, but who knows what could happen in the following days? Arcade Fire has done it before (at the Ukrainian Culture Center in 2011) although I would have more chance to be hit by a meteorite than to score a ticket. However, I wouldn’t mind seeing Beck, the Replacements or Queens of the Stone Age added to this list, and wouldn’t really surprised! Many shows are not on sale yet but they will be very soon, just check back the Goldenvoice page.
