Vampire Weekend In Legal Trouble Over Contra Cover -by Alyson Camus

Vampire Weekend may have received a nomination for Best Alternative Music Album, but what’s going on exactly with their lawsuit? Remember, last July, they got sued for $2 million by the model on the cover of their Contra album, for using her picture without her permission.
But on November 24th, the band sued Tod Brody, the photographer who took the picture, for alleging he had the rights to use the picture of Ann Kirsten Kennis! The band is claiming  Brody ‘misrepresented certain facts and breached contracts’.

The case is very confusing since the model is also saying that Brody didn’t even take the picture, as she said that she gave some belongings to a charity shop, including this photograph, which was then found by Tod Brody and ended up on the cover of Contra.

And to finish with this all this, Brody himself seems to have vanished, as he was not even present when Vampire Weekend presented the papers of their lawsuit.

It’s a bizarre blame game, and I don’t know who is going to pay at the end, but there must be a reason why the song ‘Holiday’ has been used into two commercials lately.
