Music At The Movies:”Easy A” Not Reviewed by Iman Lababedi

This is not a movie review. Actually, it is barely a music post. But as long as I am here: “Easy A” is a tribute to John Hughs mixed with a “The Scarlett Letter” update a la “Clueless” take on Jane Austin.
It’s OK, (Emma Stone in a career bravado performance) though it is saddled with an idiot plot featuring brain dead parents who are meant to be cute and are at first, until they become major irritants, and problem that can be resolved with a quick visit to the quacks. I mean, really, how, if you have a reputation as a slut with an STD and you wanna lose the reputation and you are a virgin, isn’t a note from your gynaecologist gonna cover it fast?
Well, whatever. Emma is charming except during a truly diabolical version of “Knock On Wood” at a basketball game that defies comprehension, reality, or anything in between. And, in another nod to John Hughs, a discofied version of “Don’t You Forget About Me’ -which is really, really abysmal. That is a remix? What was their music budget? A buck fifty???
