Mark Ronson’s “Bang Bang Bang”: What I Am Listening To Right This Minute by Iman Lababedi

Amanda Warner is an electronica freak who went from Cali to Bushwick and who is on Ronson’s excellent first first single “Bang Bang Bang”  off the upcoming for Record Collection.
This is what Ronson does like nobodies business… he pulls together all these disparate elements and forms a unified whole which shouldn’t add up but does.
This song shouldn’t work but it does, “Bella I’m fucking bella…” Amanda sings against a looped lick and Q-Tip sounding SO MUCH LIKE Q-Tip (I’d kinda forgotten how distinctive his voice is) interrupts the chorus with a rap and so on and so on. It is like there is a looped chorus -hooky, beaty, which gets chopped into tiny bites and reformatted. Everything in it hooks you but despite it’s many layers it is a souffle of sound. There is something so light and breezy here.
A truly wonderful song, try it.
