Silence Is Golden Disco by Woody Fuller

Some discos might be better off silent.
I have enjoyed one in the past, and can’t wait to bust-a-move in complete silence again soon. This might not make much sense to you but ch-ch check it out.
This year at Camp Bisco 9, they will be hosting a 1am-sunrise silent disco. Silent Disco? Whats that?
Well picture this, huge dance floor, a line up of some of the best dance DJs out there spinning all night. And in stead of conventional “music out of speakers” concert, every participant receives a set a wireless headphones as the enter the Silent Disco tent, which will be their personal gateway to music heaven for the evening.
And to make things even better, there will be two DJ’s and therefore two music stations that the headphones are linked up to, giving you an option of what station you want to dance to with a single flick of a switch.
This is completely and utter awesome for many reasons.

First off, having ability to choose between songs/music at dance party is neat. If you so choose to take off head phones its quite funny to hear absolutely no sound; besides the foot tapping, hand clapping, and the occasional person singing the song. This provides entertainment as well as benefited communication. Lets say you are dancing with a super cutie; you just changed your station to hers so you’re now dancing to the same music, feeling the same vibes, attempting to have the same rhythm. Now when you actually take off headphone you can actually have a conversation with out yelling and screaming at top of lungs, or at very least actually get her name right.
Its very fun when I’m listening to some hardcore techno, and the other station is listening to “Shout”, so as I am trying to jump and act foolishly crazy, they are being ” a little bit softer now, a little bit softer now.” Then some Biggie comes on for me, but some random German punk rock comes on for them. Imagine the possibilities. But its still cool, we’re all dancing together as one, just sometimes different music.

There are countless fun/entertaining things that can be done and observed in this kind of environment. And like Mrs. Gump said you really never know what you’re gonna get.
