Kevin Greenspon has a magic touch.
From his solo stuff through Cloud Passing, No Paws and beyond with Vehicle Blues, if it’s Kevin, or if it’s his label Bridgetown Records, it is worth listening to by definition.
Kevin gets in touch from time to time and he emailed me yesterday:
“Hi Iman, hope you’ve been doing well! I actually performed “Open Book” at a show with No Paws yesterday which was pretty fun!
Anyways, I’ve been pretty busy with school over here but pulling through. I just released my label’s first pro-CD: “Changer” by Vehicle Blues, so I’m trying to spread the word about it. I’m extremely proud of this record and even sing backup on the title track.
Vehicle Blues – Changer.mp3
The MP3 is totally clear for posting, sharing, etc. I know the press sheet says June 2010, but the CD is actually already out since he’s on tour in the Midwest right now (just played with Cloud Nothings at their venue in Cleveland) and it’s available from me before the more formal release as part of the Summer Batch later next month.
If you need any more info or images or anything, just let me know. Hope you dig the track!
Kevin”
So I tried to link it and failed miserable. You can cut and paste this: http://jherievans.com/bridgetown/Vehicle%20Blues%20-%20Changer%20%28Bridgetown%20%2325%29.mp3
If it works you’re one lucky pup because despite the iffy pr clip: “Brilliantly catchy pop songs documenting the lonely move from Kansas to Chicago in Winter of 2008. Complex and subtle layers of hypnotic guitar textures hide below the shiny surface of this high-fidelity bedroom masterpiece. The label’s first professionally manufactured compact disc. Packaged in shrinkwrapped jewel case” (no subtle layers, and never ever any textures) “Changer” is really good.
It is Bridgtownish throbbing lo fi guitars with a haunted vocal that clicks in fast and sticks real nice.
If his website took credit cards I’d invest but paypal is a pain. Cmon Kev, get with the 21st century!!
Vehicle Blues is pretty great… I hope they get it on itunes soon and come and visit.
