So what’s the most exciting thing you can think to say about next years The Muppets sequel of the godawful “The Muppet Movie” reboot? How about this: instead of the dreadful all mouth and penis Jason Seigel we get Ricky Gervais. Now, we know Jason has the sort of dick that would inspire penis envy in James Deen because we saw it in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and we really don’t know how big Ricky’s schlong is, but we can certainly assume there is a REASON he is so damn funny.
And I think we can say without a shadow of a doubt for that reason alone, “Muppets Most Wanted” will be better.. What we can’t say is how long it has been in production because, hell, a parody of Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger”??? Why couldn’t they have rewritten it, I mean we are talking 2011 summer single here, it is so long ago it might well have arrived from a different period. In pop terms it is the Middle Ages, they could have just as easily chosen, I dunno, “She Loves You” when things are that far away from you. It is like the Stone Ages of pop, hell, “Blurred Lines” is in the rearview mirror of pop culture.
