Them rednecks take their mentoring seriously. Maybe too seriously. Blake Shelton’s Based On A True Story is one of my faves of the year and after a lifetime of somewhere between indifference and like I found myself on the really section of the Shelton ledger. If he was playing closer than Jones Beach I would absolutely check him out.
But I don’t watch much TV and I haven’t see “The Voice” ever, so Blake’s role as judge and mentor is a complete blank to me, although maybe not to Houston Chronicle music critic Joey Guerra; he wrote about the latest Voice singer sent home, Houston’s Holly Grant with a kick in the backside on her way home.
Apparently, it sure ain’t team spirit and Blake Shelton got pissed. Here is Blake’s reply: “Hey Joey Guerra.. I wonder if the state of Texas is proud of the kind of shit you write about a young Texan like Holly Tucker? I doubt it… It’s people like you Joey Guerra that make me sick… Holly is not only a talented singer but a great person that’s simply chasing a dream… How about you grow some balls and come tell me to my face how terrible some of these kids are face to face…? You won’t. Ever… You are a chicken shit. I can’t stand a person that makes a point to write hurtful things about kids just trying their best… How much do y’all wanna bet he’d never criticise my team Or me like that face to face…. Chicken shit…”
So if I understand this correctly, Blake is threatening Guerra with implied violence because Joey didn’t like Holly? Who does Blake think he is? Lou Reed?
