This Saturday we head off to Six Flags Great Adventure for the Skate and Surf Festival. I’m not going to lie- I’m not happy about the venue change at all. As concert promoters you should really have your game plan solid and not try to eek out more bucks to the detriment of those who actually bought in on time. So what was to be a reasonable crowd at a pretty funky venue will be a mega crap fest that will prove impossible to see the stage and more kids dropping like flys from dehydration than I care to imagine. That’s greed.
The Skate and Surf people said hey…..lets jump on the Fall Out Boy wagon and bam- everyone is screwed but their pockets.
I will not attend The Skate and Surf Festival again under any venue but this was already done and paid for- may as well go stand on asphalt looking at the back of some tweenagers head for 9 hours, I mean why not.
Speaking of psychotic behavior how about Pete Wentz? First he babbles on Twitter about how sad he is that Tupac is dead (really did he just hear about that?) and now the ‘tell all’ crap in Rolling Stone. Seems all the FOB’s were wacked out when fame first hit. Joe Trohman is on record with his internal demons proving that fame just aint for everyone and if you recall. They weren’t THAT big. Oh well.. the hiatus brings them back as older wiser better medicated and under therapist care
Pete speaks of his prescription pill addication, ‘I was probably physically and mentally addicted,’ he admitted. ‘It started from insomnia and anxiety from flying, then it spiralled.’
Pete, who has taken medication for bipolar disorder since he was 18, went into further decline when his marriage to Ashlee fell apart soon after. He struggled to cope when Ashlee filed for divorce in 2011.
‘I felt like a loser already,’ he admitted. ‘I’d basically gone from being the guy in Fall Out Boy to being the guy who, like, hangs out all day. I didn’t see how I’d ever come out on the other side. I was scared of everything. I thought there were always people listening to me. Like, I had my house searched for bugs. It was crazy.’
Do you remember his campaign for fresh drinking water? Clandestine brand clothing? Yeah, all of that in a fog- not too shabby. Regardless I am glad he is feeling stronger and I’m semi sorta (not really) looking forward to seeing (maybe hearing) Fall Out Boy at this God awful festival. I don’t anticipate anything but hassle overpowering crowds and annoying disorganized bitchy security.
Prove me wrong Skate and Surf..I challenge you. Oh, and Pete stay strong bro.
