"Uncle Alice Presents", Kickstarter Campaign

Kickstarter is crazy.  I want to start a Kickstarter campaign for myself.  Seriously why are so many people putting their hand out?  Could it be that no one is able to find financial backing for their self serving sludge? Amanda Palmer had her fans fund her LP and can nearly retire of the booty.  Amanda makes sense, shes not exactly a household name and she will never ever be heard on commercial radio.  She will never sell out Madison Square Garden, she will never have her own TV show.  She will never be on TMZ.  For these reasons of semi obscurity I can allow the Kickstarter bit without judgement.

When legendary shock rocker Alice Cooper does the same thing- its just pathetic.  Cmon this guy has been around forever and has made more loot from bad eyeliner than anyone ever will.   Granted this is not a musical endeavour but can he really not find an investor for his latest effort?  OH, wait, guess what the project is…. A comic book series.

Yup joingin the likes of Gerard Ways ‘Umbrella’  nonsense, Cooper wants $200,000 by April 19, to fund a comic book anthology series, graphic novel and, possibly, even a future TV series.  The TV series will never happen by the way, no one will care that much.

Here is there sales pitch, hold on to your lunch, they tossed their pride:
“This is not some hoary tribute to EC Comics. Sure, it's a comic book anthology horror series, graphic novel, and, if you demand it, a television series, but all comparisons end there. Unlike your mommy's quaint horror comics of yore, UNCLE ALICE PRESENTS is the one and only horror series brought to you by and featuring the visionary maestro of shock rock himself, ALICE COOPER. That's right, Alice freakin' Cooper!

Created by Tom Sheppard (co-creator of and show runner for The High Fructose Adventures of the Annoying Orange), join us on this epic adventure to publish all twelve comic book issues of UNCLE ALICE PRESENTS, along with the compilation graphic novel, and hopefully the television pilot. We'll even let one lucky backer come up with the idea for one of the comic books!”

Donate $3 get a pin. Donate ten grand and play golf with Alice Cooper.  Donate 10k to me and you’ve got a friend for life.  This is an embarrasement.  Fund your own gig Alice, or are you too afraid it will flop?
