Peter Murphy has one of the most identifiable voices in music. As the lead singer of Bauhaus, he gave creepy rock a whole knew sound. Before 'goth' could be called 'goth' Bauhaus was there most notably with their tune 'Bela Lugosi' with the fabulous chant of 'I'm dead I'm dead I'm dead'.
The band tried to reform a couple times and Peter Murphy has always incorporated Bauhaus into his solo sets, but the "Mr Moonlight Tour' will be 100% Bauhaus material. Does this mean we get no live 'Cuts You Up'? I find it hard to imagine that Murphy could let that one pass-bet he sings it.
Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the iconic band you cant help but wonder where Daniel Ash and David J are. Ash tried a solo bit and it was darn good but he got nowhere, just a niche audience. Lets face it – once again – a band is known for its voice.
“Since 2006, I have included my Bauhaus work into my solo work as a way of tipping my hat to my own audience … those who discovered my early work as well as new and old fans of those years strong wishes to hear the music of my band crackle and spark in the live arena,” Murphy said. “Being the foremost advocate of this Bauhaus work, I decided the time was ripe to at last give a pure Bauhaus experience in one Mr. Moonlight world tour. Mr Moonlight is alive and well, don’t doubt it.”
