There is a magic about Summer concerts and New York is of course, the magical place on Earth. What a pairing and with events such as Summerstage and Lincoln Center Out of Doors, there is no way to say you have nothing to do. Grab a cold drink and wander over to some of the most iconic locations to laze and listen.
This is the 43rd year for Lincoln Center Out of Doors. Good ol’ LC sheds its highbrow persona and provides endless entertainment for young and old throughout the dog days and well, if you’re there you’re silly not to attend.
The diverse offerings are as intricate as the population of the Big Apple. Running from today July 24, through August 11th, and have I mentioned they’re free?
When I mention diversity I mean it. From Kronos Quartets to Nick Lowe with Sacred Drums and music of ethnicity it’s a fabulous opportunity to enjoy something you may have not experienced before. Widen that scope so to speak.
According to the website there’s food vendors nearby so ‘hello picnic’. It really is a lovely event and with great accomplishment to be 43 years of continuous free events.
“Events take place on LINCOLN CENTER’S PLAZAS between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues, from West 62nd Street to West 65th Street. Take No.1 IRT to 66th Street/Lincoln Center Station) OR the A, B, C, D and No. 1 trains to 59th St/Columbus Circle.”
The complete listing of artists, oh yeah, Amanda Palmer is on board too, can be found at LCoutofdoors.org. A city tradition continues. Shows start at 6pm- git goin’.
