“Deep Purple: The Songs That Rock Built,” With Strings!

OK think this one through.  Deep Purple, the band who gave us "Smoke On The Water" and "Burn" are packing the Polident and hitting the road.  This band has been around since 1968. Figure they were 20 at the very youngest then… do the math.

Can they do this?  Go tour fill the house, produce a product of quality?  I doubt it.  This is a nostalgia gig if ever.  I cant imagine this going well but there is a very interesting element.

They are touring with a full symphony orchestra. This could actually work.  Fusing 'hard' rock with classical instruments is a concept done a zillion times but it can sound amazing.  Will it? I don't know.  I almost want to root for them.  In a tiny way its a nod to the fact that they cannot be the same 40 years later so they're sort of embellishing, its a brilliant idea that I honestly hope works.  And I would love to hear "“My Women From Tokyo” on a cello.

I guess this is one of these tours you go to to say you saw them "I saw Deep Purple back in 2011" is in no way as cool as "I saw Deep Purple back in 1972".  But you get um while you can.
