Guiness Book Of World Records: 7,000 Guitar Students Cant Be Wrong

On March 3 at Livesteam Studios in New York City Steve Vai in conjunction with the Berklee College of Music (isn't that in Boston?)  achieved a monumental feat.

The official worlds largest guitar lesson.

This was primarily done as a promotion for online education. Seems a horrific trend really.  I think eduction really shouldn't be exclusively online there's is a human element that is needed at least periodically to make the information real.

In spite of this, its a very fun even that got attention for Vai and Berklee.

"I hope this record encourages players to continue to cultivate their own unique style and spirit on the guitar," Vai said. "I think this record really showcases the interest that exists in guitar education worldwide. It was a true pleasure working with an institution like Berkleemusic, who shares my interest in helping to bring more skilled musicians in the world", said Vai.

There was a time when the Guinness Book of World Records was the coolest thing ever to read.  People trying things and surpassing goals.  Its fallen out of popularity so its rather refreshing to here those records still being exceeded.  Even if for a small music lesson.

So whats Via doing otherwise?  Not much.  But for a guy who has been in every band from Hot Chocolate to working with Frank Zappa I guess its OK to sorta just be self indulgent for awhile
