– Burning For No One – The Cribs – Yorkshire boys playing typical UK rock, and have been for a coupla decades and they do what they do quite well, the lick is sturdy and yet ot clingy and the verbal hook is sticky and quite smart – B+
– Untitled (How Does It Feel) – D’Angelo – one of the great tracks, a masterpiece of abstracted desire for funk understood by women somewhere else – A
– The Right Time – Brian Wilson – The song is slight, it sounds like minor league Wilson… still pretty good – B+
– Crush Me With Your Love – Kate Pierson – First iffy trick off the album, the vocal isn’t there and the song is a duffer – C+
– 1:59- Matt Whipkey – Nice little lick – B+
– Sweet Home – Pop Staples – deep blues by the late great – A-
– Don’t Let It Trouble Your Mind – Rhiannon Giddens – Folkie singer songwriter stuff – A-
– Friction – Imagine Dragons – It’s so easy, too easy, to dismiss these guys, this is half a good song with a slimy production – C+
– Edge Of A Revolution – Nickelback – Maybe it’s Chad Kroeger’s fault. Maybe if they got a half way decent singer – C-
– Next Year People – Colin Hay – A real bore with a terrible vocal – D+
