– Power In The Blood – Amy Grant – her time in secular music has given Amy a loudness and force here, like getting whacked on the head by the Bible, a country rockers spirituality… and an acquired taste – B

– Tapping On The Line – Calexico – yep, as John Oliver recently noted, the NSA has your dick pix, and Arizonian Tex Mex folkies Calexico are not amused – B

– In Another World – Dwight Yoakam – The opening track on his newbie and killer good, a purist concept of country rock, all strum and backbone – A

– All I Need – The-Dream – In search of a deep cut, I found this sizzling slow jam instead – A-

– Molasses – Earl Sweatshirt – This is the one where he wants to fuck the freckles off your face – A

– Emoticons – The Wombats – Here is the problem with these guys made simple, a good song, and a funny idea not even played for laughs, but not quite good enough – B

– On The Island – Brian Wilson – What’s with the whistling? Anyway, I forgive Zoey and Brian… it is inoffensive and actually, I can imagine it performed by the Muppets in their next movie. Gentle. That’s the word – B-

– Earth Song – India – There is no reason for this entire album to work so well, but every song I’ve heard has been ace. Even this number which, you gotta figure, should be too sincere to live – B+

– I Want You Back – Tito Nieves – If this isn’t as great as the original, it doesn’t miss by much, a magnificently, dance groove work out… and those horns. Thank Tony Succar for putting it together – A

– Human nature – Jon Secada – If Jon is the acceptable face of Latin music, he still does a fine job here. Doesn’t overplay his hand, but sings around the tomtoms – B+
