Cliff move's it

Cliff move’s it

1. I Could Easily (Fall In Love With You) – Cliff Richard And The Shadows – On Saturday, Cliff mentioned recording in Nashville and you might wonder how he would do with country, this is a modified country (not even rockabilly lick) drenched in melodic goodness – A

2. Miss You Nights – A flop when first released and a fan fave tonight, it never moved my needle till Saturday when it was revealed as a wildly superior ballad – B+

3. Toledo – Elvis Costello And Burt Bacharach – I am finally getting excited about the Costello at Carnegie set and if he starts doing the Painting by Memory album I will be one happy Cos fan – A

4. Cry. –  Mariah Carey – Let’s rake Jermaine Dupri over the coals for failing to release this as a single – A

5. Juicy – Notorious B.I.G. – The absolute joy of creation – A+

6. Can’t Take My Eyes Off You – Franki Valli – Considered too arty at the time, the two tempos fight each other in a way copied endlessly ever since – A+

7. Jersey Girl – Tom Waits – He scrawls and crawls his way through to the tired and romantic to conclusion – A

8. Jersey Girl – Bruce Springsteen – Then Bruce turned it into an anthem – A

9. Downtown Train – Tom Wait – A wrecked passionate magic bus – A

10. Downtown Train – Rod Stewart – Which Rod turned into an anthem – A
