The Crown Prince Of Reggae

The Crown Prince Of Reggae

1. You And Your Smiling Face – Dennis Brown – This song should have, even if it didn’t break through for brown, been covered and broken through for some mainstream Claptonish rocker and made him if not as big as Marley, certainly second in command – A+

2. This Is Why I;m Hot – MiMs and Junior Reid – Yeah, this doesn’t work though reid is a great singer- C

3. Love Has Found A way – Dennis Brown – Lover’s rock as though it was produced by Gamble and uff – A

4. Dirty Rain – Ryan Adam – Post Newport, this song has revealed itself as big time Adams – A

5. Who I want You To Love – Bleachers – Not bad but not “Rollercoaster” – B-

6. Time Forgot – Conor Oberst – This sounds an awful lot like Conor, a guy whose idea of doing what he wants is walking in the howling wind – B+

7. Forgotten Man – Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers – Both a great riff and a great hook, just wish it had a better tune – A-

8. Leave Your Lover – Sam Smith – Quite possibly the song of the year – A+

9. Oh My God, Whatever, Etc. – Ryan Adams – The sort of song that cements Adams position as one of our great songwriters – A

10. Capture Land – Chronixx – The real hardcore mainstream Reggae – B+
