Ain’t No Man – Angaleena Presley – The final third of Pistol Annie, whose new country is the best from the genre since Lee Ann Womack which is the best since Miranda Lambert, starts like a typical country blues, but the song clicks in soon and this superwoman, whoever she is emerges from the lyric as a thing as wonderful as the song itself – A-

2. Last Time – Nico & Vinz – disco beat – B

3. Peace Sign – We Were Promised Jetpacks – Guitar atmospherics – C

4. What I’m Thinking About – The Swon Brothers – Country, undercooked – C

5. Weekend – Priory – This should join the pantheon of less than thrilling songs about time off – C

6. Dust – Little May – this leaves a lot to be desired in the energy department, in the song department, the harmonies are pretty – C+

7. A Kiss Goodbye – Emili Haynie, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Devonte Hynes – Emile is a top top top producer, and this is indicative of his work with Lana Del Rey  and not Bruno Mars – B+

8. First Impressions – Kele – Given time, Kele could outstrip his Bloc Party passed history, this is great electronic soul – B+

9. Workin’ The Job – Sallie Ford – This is a catchy sucker with  good line, “don’t need money if you wanna get laid” – B+

10. New Energy – Unwound – Strident clashing guitars – B
