– The Kids Are Alright – The Who – There is a plaintiveness about this song, maybe more so now than 50 years ago, but the word kid reverberates and the sense of a scene in movement is also partly a scene closing down forever. “I don’t mind…” is suh a loaded line – A+
– Golden Age – TV On the Radio – This is their “Evil Urges”, a song that defines them but not for what they are – A
– Evil Urges – My Morning Jacket – Why did they only have this, perfect Curtis Mayfield as jam band, masterpiece in them. They did other things, but not this – A
– Thinking Out Loud – Ed Sheeran – Not for nothing but this has 353 million streams on Spotify – A
– Fantasy – Bad Boy Fantasy – Mariah carey – Ol’ Dirty bastard sounds so wobbly and cool and Mariah such a strange counterpart – A
– Blurred Times – Total Babe – I saw these guys live years ago, before death overtook their storyline, and thought they were awesome, a little tastier though this is a fuzzy good time – B+
– Not Today – Twenty One Pilots – This is a drearier near the ender… what a strange bunch – B-
– Flick – Trey Songz – Are they all slow fuse sex jams? Apparently – C+
– Hey Mama – David Guetta – remember when David Guetta was the best DJ in the world…? No? 2010. Nicki sounds great – B
– On The Regular – Shamir – Yeah, my review kinda blew, but I got the grade right. This is a tippy tappy goody, the beat is so hooky it is ridiculous – A-
