1. FALLINLOVE2NITE – Prince feat Zooey Deschanel – The episode of “New Girl” featuring Prince was like Pixie and Dixie as they outshone each other in whimsy and twerk and the song itself is one of the worst Prince has put his name to. It is so cutesy you wanna scream and, surely Prince’s calling card, the beat is flat – D+
2. They Don’t have Any Friends – Taking Back Sunday – This isn’t a song, it is a twitched out tempo – C-
3. Mojo, Mojo – Luther Dickinson – This would make Jack Johnson complain it was too whimsical – D+
4. Under The Pressure – The War On Drugs – Seventh on the bill with a 4pm slot at Coachella – C
5. Smiling – Black Lips – Neither shambling enough for Black Lips, or tight enough for mainstream, the melody is still pretty snazy – B
6. Grandma – The Floatist – Poetry put to music with a back beat and a rap verse – B+
7. I’m A freak – Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull – This was pretty good at Jingle Ball last year but they botched in on record – C
8. Robes – Freddie Gibbs and Madlib – Mets Odd Future and get jazzy and weird – B
9. Blue And Wonder – Richard Buckner – American guy (meaning country without the pop stuff) with a great voice that would get him an audtion at any audition Jimmie dale Gilmore is invited to – B
10. Follow Me Down – The Pretty Reckless – I don’t doubt their sincerity, I doubt their ability – C
