2 – I Think It’s Gonna Rain Today – Bette Midler – With excitement at a fever pitch for Thursday’s gig, here is a reminder that the lachrymose disaster Beaches had at least one great moment. Thank young Randy Newman – B+
3 – Speedway – Morrissey – All of the rumours keeping me grounded, I never said they were completely unfounded… – A
4 – Lantern – Hudson Mohawke – Electronic opener of the new album is all nerve tingling anticipation and synth ambient blood taking – A
5 – Still Feeling Blue Alternate Take – Gram Parsons – More giddy-up and the vocals are quite there yet – B+
6 – The Christian Life – The Byrds – Not the original, the one with Gram singing – A+
7 – Life In Prison – The Byrds – This is so powerful, not an ounce of irony: straight up country – A
8 – Girlfriend – Ty Segall – This guys problem is he is too prolific and since he doesn’t put everything in Spotify, he is too prolific and you can’t find it. This handclapping T Rex stomper is why it might be worth searching him out – A
9 – I Want To Be Black – Mindless Self Indulgence – Rollicking ode to being cool – A
10 – Future Farmers Of The America – From his final masterpiece – B+ (just messing with you Lou… A)
