Six pack and some ice
Six pack and some ice

1. River Bank – Brad Paisley – I’ve been consistently rough on Paisley. The first time I saw him, Brad’s first album had yet to be released and he was opening for Loretta Lynn at the Town Hall. I haunted Tower records waiting for that album to be released. This song puns prettily on the bank portion of the title – A-

2. Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On) – Robert Plant and Alison Krauss – Phil and Don done right – A

3. Time Shows Fools – Justin Townes Earle – Lovely little country rocker – A

4. It’s Time To Call Home – The Rentals – Nothing like the rentals of all, it sounds like indie rock and a touch too atospheric for its own good – B

5. Me And Jesus – Brad Paisley – Fine cover – B+

6. Outlaw Pete – Bruce Springsteen – “He was born a little baby on the Appalachian trial, at six months old he’d done three months in jail…”  Should be fun right, should be funny. But note the “born a little baby” – D

7. Better Off Dead – Randy Newman – a complete classic about what to do when you’re dating a bad bad person, “put some real milage between yourself and the object of your love my friend” is the more than useful advice. And what a  great sounding song! – A+

8. Untold Stories – Buju Banton – If all Buju ever did was write this song, he should be r=freed right this second – A+

9. Am I That Lonely Tonight? – Justin Townes Earle – I don’t now – A+

10. Long Sermon – Brad Paisley – First song on the first side of the first album, how did I miss the guitar? – A
