nxworries-single-art

– Suede – NxWorries – This has been out since February but completely new to me and let me tell you, I missed it then but not this beautiful soul song featuring next years The Weeknd, Anderson Paak. One of the best songs of the year – A

– Dress You Up – Madonna – This is the sort of perfect intro so hard and yet easy, a drum roll, a bass lick, a synth and an acoustic guitar and the song hasn’t started yet – A

– Material Girl – Madonna – Madonna’s greatest moment bar none? This is it, a perfect pop confection and a capitalist manifesto with a twist in its tail – A+

– Like A Virgin – Madonna – This made her a superstar, she is where she is because of this – A+

– Portions For Foxes – Rilo Kiley – Remember when these guys were god? I think we’re ready for 00s nostalgia – A

– All In A Day’s Work – Dr. Dre – Anderson Paak – That’s Jimmy Iovine with the pep talk but if yiu can get past him you get Paak – B+

– Issues – Dr. Dre – With Ice Cube on the track, you’d imagine it would be a lot more like NWA. Ice Cube and Paak both get their verses, Dre? Not so much  – B

– Animals – Dr Dre – This is the absolute masterpiece off Compton -a jaudiced eye turned to the media’s portrayal of black people during times of unrest. Paak’s finest moment – A

– Medicine Man – Dr Dre – I love eminem’s rap but not enough to save us from the lousy hook – C-

Fingerprints – Bon Jovi -This is… I don’t know what to say… – D
