be A$AP

be A$AP

1. 1Train –  A$AP Rocky – We all need a sap in our lives and this terrific ode to newfound wealth is still so close to the poverty line it has the ring of truth gangsta yarns can miss out on. Plus if you’ve ever had a ride on the train in question you might wonder if you’d stepped back to 1975 – A

2. Shabba – A$AP Ferg – Ferg came on like an elder statesman of cool NYE, except when he asked for a towel after this song – A-

3. Fuckin’ Problem – A$AP Rocky – Imagine, if you will, fields of A$APs rapping this at the same time, will it survive?

4. Waiting All Night (feat Ella Eyre) – Rudimental – This is their soulful masterpiece and may I just say I expected i to do better in the States, this is as good as anything Disclosure released – A

5. Rock N Roll Nigger – Patti Smith – You know, she’d never get away with this in 2014 – A

6. A Little Respect – Erasure – Gives New Irder a run for their money, this is a masterwork of synth pop with a hook as big as the world – A

7. Teenagers In Heat – Holy Ghost! – Is it even worth mentioning there wasn’t a chance in hell the song could live up to its name? Still, it is pretty damn catchy any way – B+

8. Free – Rudimental – Emile Sande gives her all on this modern disco soul EDM UK branch track – A-

9. Not A Bad Thing – Justin Timberlake – It should’ve been even bigger than it as, a bad song name hurt – A

10. Only One (feat Paul McCartney) – Kanye West – West connects his late mother to his young daughter, McCartney adds backup vocals for extra sweetness and a hint of the Mother Mary – B
