Coolio Gangsta’s Paradise – One hit wonder and a type of harbinger of modern r&b meets pop music in the world of EDM with that crossover violin haunted sample and a superb bg time hook, plus a deadly serious storyline – B+

TLC Waterfalls – They were the biggest band of the world round about here. Maybe Dallas AUstin helped loads but he didn’t hel;p that much and this is excellent dream pop r&b ruled the world for ages – A

TLC Creep – Same album, same result – A

Seal Kiss From A Rose – Seal always seemed capable of more than one hit but this overblown soul ballad was all we got – B

Boyz II Men On Bended Knee – The most succesful r&b band of all time, but why? These guys are the poster boys for lousy soul songs – C

Real McCoy Another Night – A Clive Davis , Eurotrash proto-EDM dance song – B

Mariah Carey Fantasy – The album includes a duet with, who else, Boys II Men, but this is better than that: it is not all in the vocals, the song has a good rhythmic hook – B+

Madonna Take A Bow – Co-Written with Babyface, it sounds like cream – A

Monica Don’t Take It Personal (Just One Of Dem Days) – You know Monica through her duet with Brandy, this was her first hit – B

Montell Jordan This Is How We Do It – Soul guy adds the kichen sink and a strong vocal – B-
