1. It Takes A Woman – Walter Matthau – Jokey sexism turned on its tail with growly jowly and curt Walter claiming you need a woman to help clean the stables and shoe the horse, that all romantic. “The important things in life come gift wrapped” he tells his prospective fiancee… hard to disagree right? – B+
2. Too Bad I Have To Destroy You – Kid Cudi – Mood in two movements both pointing down – B+
3. All The Young Dudes – David Bowie – A classic kinda wasted on Ian Hunter with the manifesto for a generation, “who needs TV when you’ve got T Rex?” – A+
4. The Imposter – Elvis Costello – Includes one of his greatest lines: he’ll only bring you souvenirs, it’s only gonna end in tears-A
5. The Dancer Disappears – Dean Warsham – Dream trance pop of the first order – B+
6. Crazy – Lydia Loveless – She’s so last week right, try this and tell me again – A
7. She’d Rather Be With Me – The Turtles – Standard bearer for pop sweetness, you could imagine Smokey Robinson constructing it – A+
8. Shit Shot Counts – Drive By Trucker – I dismissed the album out of hand but some folks seem to think there’s more… so prove it -A-
9. With Arms Outstretched – Rilo Kiley – They never got here again though they came close, there is an ease to this indie anthem that makes it seem easy and it isn’t – A+
10. I’ll Be Here In The Morning – Don Williams – Quietly moving country soulfulness – B
