1 – Your Song – Elton John – This thing has legs, it will go on and on and though, like Robert Christgau, “I don’t like its affected offhandedness”, it is the standard that standards adhere to the 1960s – 1970s heyday of rock and roll. Brought low by disco of course, and buried by rap and its bride Hop Hop, a couple of years later but here it shines through, piano and strings intact – A+
2 – Uma Thurman – Pulpy fictionalizing a dance and a TV show -a munstrous track – A
3 – Philadelphia – Magazine – Had a good face for memories – A
4 – U Know How It Iz – The 1978ers – Best song off the album has a choru to die for – A
5 – Blank Space – I Prevail – I give up, it doesn’t work – C
6 – Darker Side Of Town – Sam haiman Band – Nice guitar rocker – B+
7 – Surfer Girl – Bill Frisell – Gorgeous version, though I do miss the words – A-
8 – Pieces – Ella Henderson – She lacks consistency but when you lack consistency sometimes you hit it right on: great dynamic at the chorus – A-
9 – No Shadow – Ryan Adams – Johnny Depp played guitar on this folk Neil Young-y whinger -B
10 – Kitsch – Dan Manger – Wallpaper for the sides of your mind but not as interesting as I am making it sound – C
