10 Songs: Friday, May 1st, 2015

1 – Them Changes – Eric Clapton And Stevie Winwood – Buddy Miles monster riff is given an electric run through by Stevie on keyboards and soul slamming vocal and when there is a whole, Clapton throws in gorgeous blues licks so everything is covered at all time, and the horns handle the riff – A-

2 – Hot Gates – Mumford And Sons – What were these guys thinking of? “Snake Eyes” wasn’t awful but the other two songs, plus this dozy fucker, are just the pots – C-

3 – Woman (Oh Woman) – Joy Williams – Americana meets South Africana – B+

4 – Flashlight – Jessie J – She has more soul than other Limey contenders like Ellie Goulding. This is a sweetheart – B+

5 – Square Dance – Eminem – In which Slim Shady takes on Dubya and wins – A

6 – Tick Tick Bounce – Nick Catchdubs – When I say this is a cool sounding album, what I mean is weird shit like this is cool sounding – A-

7 – Bizness – Nick Catchdubs – Segueing into this great nursery rhyme – A-

8 – There’s No One crying Over Me Either – American Wrestler – The drums sound awful doctored for singer songwriter, though maybe not for one man band, the sentiment is pretty damn powerful – B+

9 – A Guy Walks Into A Bar – Tyler Farr – Great song name, the song is overcooked, actually it’s burnt – C

10 – I’ll Be Your Man (Song for A Daughter) –Zac Brown Band – If I was the daughter I’d demand a DNA test on the odd chance I might be saved a lifetime of embarrassments like this – D-
