– Drake – 6pm In New York – Oh, you’ve gotta love it, another self portrait as Drake opens his diary and rhymes his way through at the end of his masterful mix tape. An open so strong it remains one of the best of the year -yes, THE MIX TAPE – A
– Shake It Off – Florence + The Machine – Her ode to hangovers and still her greatest moment – A
– Get The Point – My Morning Jacket – Their nasty put down track, and I am seriously considering dumping Drake for MMJ tonight at GovBall because 1 – I have seen Drake twice in the past 18 months and 2 – My feeling is I will be able to get awesome sightlines since everybody will be watching Drake. In case you forgot the point, MMJ is a great live band as well – B+
– Throw Sum Mo – Rae Smurrard – Teen hip hop duo, still have more energy than you do, this has Nicki Minaj along for the ride – B+
– Lean On (featuring Mo and DJ Snake) – Major Lazer – It sure is catchy, ain’t it? – B
– Teenage Talk – St. Vincent – This is a terrific strong pop moment, the follow up to last years terrific album – B+
– Weekend – Priory – Not for nothing but they literally sold their blood to record this? It is pretty good but hardly an artistic statement big enough to warrant such extremeness – B+
– Never Let You Go featuring Foy Vance – Yeah, no, I’m not obsessed at all but they have always been better live – B
– Train Wreck – Death From ABove 1979 – Not bad disco punk, which means the beats sound like U2 – B
