meet the new pornographers, same as the old pornographers
meet the new pornographers, same as the old pornographers

1. Bill Bruisers – The New Pornographers – This is a nicely bruising pop rocker with vocal hooks on top of vocal hooks from a band who have been around forever but for whom I’ve never had all that much time, by this one they got right – B+

2. Tiff (feat Justin Vernon) – Polica – They kinda sucked, like not sucked terrible but still not all that, when I saw em last year and this kinda moody synthy goth sound is the reason why. Dunno why Justin is here, but if ever a man should stop fucking around and reform his band, this is that man – C

3. Troubadour – George Strait – The reason I love Strait and Steve Crawford doesn’t is because I love melody over everything and Crawford needs character. Which Strait lacks, but that’s all he lacks – A

4. Did She Jump Or Was She Pushed – Richard And Linda Thompson – An extended metaphor for a very painful break-up. PS she was pushed – A+

5. Would You Fight For My Love – Jack White – Controversy rages round our way as to the value of this song, I sayit sis a terrible piano based annoyance and the worst thing he has written in two years – C-

6. Broken Hearted Love Song – The Shoe – Excellent waltz – B+

7. In A Miracle – Chrissie Hynde – Another song she forgot to write but saved with her voice – B+

8. Who Are You Live From London 2012 – The Who – Here’s a rarity, better the recorded version than watching em play it live – B

9. 99 Problems – Body Count – In which Ice T takes back his song from Jay Z’s humongous sample – B

10. Try – Colbie Caillat – The weakest song from the new EP is a lovely ballad about the forces at work against her self-esteem and how to deal with em – B+
