Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris (and half of Chuck Schumer)

Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris (and half of Chuck Schumer)

1. Invitation to The Blues – Emmylou Harris And Rodney Crowell – It is hard to go wrong with this Roger Miller song, it is part of the pantheon and every one from Ray Price to Reba McIntyre have covered it, indeed this isn’t even Emmylou’s first trip to the rodeo. S stellar band really sells it – B+

2. The Rock Of My Soul – Rodney Crowell – From an album that performed better indie than on the country charts back in 2001, a moody little number about watching your daddy beat ypur Mommy: “a man who hits a woman ain’t worth a dime” – A

3. Perfect Storm – Brad Paisley – Sure, Brad is a good guitarist and plays it well with this kitchen sink country popper, the song still ain’t worth a dime – C

4. All About The Bass – Meaghan Trainor –  No not that bass, the all the right junk in all the right places – B+

5. You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling – Elvis Presley – This couldn’t be any more dramatic if he slit his wrists half way through – A-

6. FML – Fodsmack – I sweat this are folkies in disguise, or many Americana – B+

7. Gasoline And Matches – Leann Rimes – Lessee: Leann fans will hate it and EDM fans won’t find it – C

8. No Rhyme, No Reason – Al Jarreau – with Kelly Price, who has a tremendous somewhat underrated voice – B+

9. Fooled Around And Fell In Love – elvin Bishop – It sounds better now – B

10. Savages – Theory Of  A Dead Man – with Alice Cooper and it sounds pretty good as well – B+
