Thanksgiving is over everyone switches into the Christmas spirit.
The past few Christmases I've scoured the internet for good original holiday songs. There's still only one that's my favourite.
"Yule Shoot Your Eye Out" by Fall Out Boy is the best Christmas tune ever. First of all, it isn't super cheesy with any jingle bells or ridiculously cliche lyrics, which is nice. Patrick's voice is the perfect mix of soft and sweet and sincere, as always. However, the lyrics are spiteful, but it just makes the song more interesting. The beat's pretty catchy and positive but the lyrics are anything but that, which makes it intriguing. "Don't come home for Christmas- you're the last thing I want to see underneath the tree" is the best example of just how cruel the tune is. You can really hear the resentment.
The diversity makes the tune way more fun to listen to than the typical Christmas songs. The fact that the song is so soft musically really enhances the lyrics, giving it a holiday feel. They need to start playing this song in shoppes instead of those bad covers done by pop stars of "Walking In A Winter Wonderland" and "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree".
