You Me At Six (YMAS) is one of the worse band names of all time. For reviewers its a huge pain in the ass and for fans it just sounds silly to holler your allegiance too.
I have had the distinct pleasure of seeing the band three times- I think it’s three I’m uncertain. YMAS can sometimes shmear into the background. Always a bridesmaid and never a bride they have no umph to make it memorable but no ughk to make them hate able. They’re sorta just there like a freckle unnoticed.
That is unless you speak to their fans who will rip your larynx out if you so much as utter a negative word. This fan-damodium is what keeps the band viable and I am unsure what fuels these kids but the band should be grateful for it. In the UK they’ve sold out Wembly as headliner- in the US they’re headlining some smaller mid size clubs this fall. Sell out? Not yet.
The new video “Lived A Lie” takes the euro trash boys and bleaches them so generic that if it weren’t for the accents it would be a Maroon5 parody. What the hell is going on here? Wheres the cool? Why the pop rock? Its appropriate that they’ll tour opening for the has beens Thirty Seconds To Mars cuz they have stolen their entire schtick
This GQ pretty boy model rock video is a laughable Standing before the flaming electronics the boy give us their best super model pouts but the euro mole like eyes are just an embarrassment. I do believe this will get them a greater fan circle- of generic pop kids with no real need to rock the boat. A shame really, if they were generic background before they’re officially entered into the nondescript world of music and wont survive until Adam Levine retires.
