I’ve done nothing but run into Elvis Costello all year long and with the exception of a great opening song at Beacon cover of “My Resistance Is Low” and a thrill to watch him play acoustic “Poison Moon” from his Honky Tonk tapes period, I haven’t gained all that much from the experience.
Saturday night at the Springsteen concert Elvis joined Bruce on “Higher and Higher” for the rollicking climax to an awesome set on . It’s worth noting that without his long coats, and scarves and hats, Costello is in pretty good nick for his age. He musta been on a diet because I had greats eats and cat tell you the gut from a coupla posts ago seems to have disappeared. Also, the archness of his Beacon theatre gig and the loquacious obsequiousness of his Spectacle performance, gave way to an ease and swing it was a pleasure to watch. He was easy to root for.
