It seems that Angelinos love British band xx, their upcoming show on July 23 at the Henry Fonda sold out in a flash, and they have announced on Monday two more shows for the fall, one at Hollywood Forever on October 13, a day after another show at the Palladium on October 12,… wow, that’s quite a lot of xx in such a small amount of time.
At the same time, they have released a new song ‘Angels’ off their upcoming album ‘Coexist’, which will be released in September via Young Turks Records, and will be a follow-up of their critically acclaimed and self-titled 2009 album.
I don’t have a lot of experience with the band, but the song is like a slow lullaby with intimate and emotional female voice (Romy Madley-Croft’s) singing over minimalist instrumentation, mostly consisting of sparse gleaming guitar,.. it’s kind of dreamy-pop, Beach House style minus the synth wrapped around, much more solitary, and probably made especially for people who are into this kind of emo stuff… I mean I just got the impression she was about to give up the ghost at any moment, but it is just me apparently. Here are xx fall tour dates, since they are not just playing in Los Angeles. One last thing, every person who will purchase ticket to the fall tour will receive a download of 'Coexist'.
