Wintersleep's New Song 'Resuscitate' Reviewed (Available For Streaming)

Sometimes the juxtaposition of the words says a lot,… just take this new song ‘Resuscitate’ by the Canadian band Wintersleep, and you have already said a lot about it. It indeed sounds like a spring awakening after a long winter sleep!

With its pulsating guitars, layered vocal harmonies, and an ethereal beginning, the upbeat and dynamic song transpires the sap going up in roots and branches at each of its energetic outbursts of bright guitars and soaring chorus. It is a sort of inspiring and vibrant ode to life, it’s rich and dense, elaborate and catchy, and it captures your attention till the end, as it culminates into an overwhelming complexity as if it was splashing light all over the place.

Wintersleep won a Juno Award for their 2007’s ‘Welcome To The Night Sky’, then toured extensively in support of their 2010’s ‘New Inheritors’, and even performed on The Late Show With David Letterman last year. Lately, they has been touring in North America, the UK, Ireland and Europe, sharing stages with big stars such as Pearl Jam, Broken Social Scene, Wolf Parade, The Hold Steady and even Paul McCartney!

Resuscitate’ is a track off their upcoming record ‘Hello Hum’, which is co-produced and mixed by two big names, Dave Fridmann (MGMT, The Flaming Lips) and Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai), and which will be released on June 12 via Roll Call Records/ILG.
