‘When the president talks to God’, this was a Bright Eyes’ song, and of course not a flattering one, since the idea that the president was looking for advice from God whether to start a war or not, was, of course, totally ridiculous.
Apparently, Katy Perry is not different from George Bush, before her performance at last week’s Super bowl Halftime Show, she got a direct encouragement from upstairs as Rolling Stone reports: ‘I was praying and I got a word from God and he says, ‘You got this and I got you,’’ she declared to Ryan Seacrest on the Red Carpet before the Grammy Awards. ‘And then I was on top of the lion and a random guy looked at me with a headset that I’d never communicated with before, he looked me straight in the eyes and said ‘You got this.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, that’s God confirming I can do this!’’
I know it was a week ago and we have already put this show behind us because it is Grammys weekend, but you may remember the over-the-top Perry’s performance. Let me refresh your memory, the mechanical MGM lion, or whatever this thing was, the holiday-on-ice flame dress and the dancing sharks? It was a gladiator entrance into Caesar palace turning into a sort of Cirque du Soleil hosted by Nickelodeon TV, I don’t know, but it was certainly not profound and important enough to get God’s attention.
If Katy Perry prays before getting on stage, that’s her thing and it should stay private… but she won’t get any point from admitting that she got God’s direct approval for her arrogant and narcissistic circus.
I bet Soho got some great tips!!
