Weezer Previewed by Helen Bach: Good Raditude

Ciontributing writer Helen Bach loves Weezer but what about the new album? Here she listens up to a comple of tracks…

There is something humbling about being handed fresh made Weezer on a cold autumn night. I mean, really what is it that I did to deserve such a treat? Thank you Great Pumpkin!

I got a double dose tonight. Its hard for me to be critical of a band that never ever fails to make me forget any life pressure I may have. Its an all encompassing high provided by a a group just being Weeze.

First off, “(If Your Wondering if I Want You  YO) I Want You To” has the most up beat tap the steering wheel beat Ive heard in a great while and there is something so refreshing about a simple drum beat. A bit of back up echo never hurts for commute concerts or shower performances and I can tell you this song will absolutely be on my shower set list. Its just sophomoric enough to take you back to high school for the good parts. These guys are so pathetically content. We’re the dorks, perhaps you remember shoving me in a locker? Yeah that’s Weezer but they’re ok with it. Hell they’re a success with it.

If you can make it through this song without a toe tap or suddenly feeling 5 years younger, hang it up.. you’re done

“I’m Your Daddy”  is River Rivers Riverius awesome leap into bad ass gangstah speak… well no not really but that would be pretty funny. Love it and now this is on heavy rotation on the Bach iDock, “you’re my baby tonight, and I’m your daddy”. Could it be that they have that clean 50s sound that makes everything they do make me want to go to the sock hop and in a souped up caddy? Can these guys do wrong? Well yeah actually they can. But 2 down and 2 big thumbs up from me. More to come but if this is any indication of the complete work and not just a tease… hot diggity this is going to make for an outstanding release.

I admire Weezer for staying true. They have found there spot in the world. So many bands feel the need to ‘branch out’ and ‘expirement’ or ‘grow’ fuck that .. Weezer stays Weezer. Take um or leave um. Me? I’m totally taking them
